Tough but Concise book October 24, 2008 This book is a heaven for a would be accountant and even those who are expert in valuation. It exposes the secrets to every topic that is dealt with at senior levels in mid to large cap companies. You will be surprised at how much insight you can gain on the completion of the book. Make sure you go through some of the exercises and problems, as they will reveal the complications that might arise in real live projects.
Finally, the book is used as a reference even by the professionals in the industry.
Absolute must have!! July 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Needed this for my Intermediate Accounting II class. The problems are harder and more complicated and this book really helps by breaking down the problems and explaining the text from the textbook in a little more detail. If you're having trouble with Intermediate Accounting II, then get this survival guide. It will help.

Although the instructions say to read the Study Guide after the text. I prefer to read it first. The summaries are a great introduction to the topic before class lectures and make the text more understandable - it's easier to comprehend the big picture of the chapter in the summaries than when reading 20 - 30 pages of text. True/False and multiple choice questions are also helpful. Explanations of False answers are given in the answer section.
Absolutely Essential!!! March 15, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Survival Guide provides the reader with an approach for solving the exercises and problems in the Intermediate Accounting textbook. This guide will help you develop the ability to solve accounting problems. It offers the reader SUMMARY OF LEARNING OBJECTIVES, TIPS ON CHAPTER TOPICS, and addtional illustrations not in the textbook. As I said before, and it's worth say it again, the real value of this guide is it provides the reader with an approach to solving the problems. This in turn gives one an excellent feel for how to apply the material presented in the textbook. I find the ANALYSIS OF MULTIPLE-CHOICE TYPE QUESTIONS an excellent way to sharpen my knowledge of the material. When working through the questions I find myself constantly reviewing the textbook which is key to internalizing the material. In short, if you really want to learn this material get this guide. That way by test time you will be bringing your 'A' game.
