Product Description
The primary goal of this GO! Series titleis to teach Windows Vista quickly and easily, with an approach that is based on clearly-defined projects. A key feature of the book is the use of Microsoft procedural syntax: steps begin with where the action is to take place, followed by the action itself. The instruction is error-free, clearly written, and logically arranged. Try It! exercises teach readers additional skills or new office features that are not included within the instructional portion of the chapter. This edition covers the following topics: getting started with Vista; managing programs, data, storage devices and advanced search techniques; customizing, maintaining, and organizing your computer; exploring the World Wide Web with Internet Explorer 7+; monitoring and tracking system performance; computer and internet security; setting up a network and sharing information;using audio and video with Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Center; trouble shooting your computer and using Windows Live. Ideal for students and individuals seeking a project-based introduction to Windows Vista.

Big and pricey.. October 18, 2008 I bought this Go! Vista textbook last semester for my online computer software class. Unlike other Windows "how-to" books, the Go! Windows series is geared towards the classroom; so there are plenty of projects to complete.
Each project, of course, is geared towards teaching a specific lesson or two about various functions and features of Windows Vista. The projects are very tedious. But they do a thorough job of exposing the learner to a wide array of Vista "paraphernalia".
There are 12 chapters in total and each chapter is divided into seperate sections(such as ch. 1A, 3B, etc.). Each sub-section is its own project.
Drawbacks include the hefty price and loose binding. For such a large book, the "copper-wire" binding does not feel secure enough.
Overall a thorough and useful textbook to get you up and running in the world of Windows Vista..just watch out for the binding.
